The Institute was founded in October 1997under the patronage of the Ghanashyam Hemalata Vidyamandir (GHVM) Society, which is registered under the Societies of Registration Act XXI of 1860 having registration No. 27929, dated May 23, 1995. This institution in the private Sector is unique in the sense that it is funded and managed by members of four labor unions – All India Food Corporation of India Workers’ Union; Paradip Port & DockMajdoor Union.

All India Food and Allied Workers Union and All India Petroleum Products Handling and Carrier Employees Union - under the leadership of Sri Ghanashyam Jena. It is located in the PURI-KONARK Marine Drive about 17 kms from the abode of Lord Jagannath and 19 kms from the world famous black pagoda ’The Konark Temple’. The sprawling campus , spread over 140 acres, is lush green and provides ideal ambience for dedicated pursuit of knowledge in technical education.

Within a short span of time it has the distinction of possessing the best infrastructure in private sector in term of institutional building, hostels for boys and girls, Guest House, well developed laboratories in all disciplines, central Workshop, Library, Central Computer Laboratory and Playgrounds. It has the latest VSAT Internet Facility with dedicated 64 Kbps bandwidth for use of students and staff.
