PURI KONARK DEVELOPMENTAUTHORITY-AT A GLANCE
About us
After being carved out from erstwhile Bhubaneswar Regional
Improvement Trust,Puri Konark Regional Improvement Trust (P.K.R.I.T.) became a
separate entity and started functioning since Sept'82 having the jurisdiction of Puri
Master Plan area and the areas in between Puri & Konark,with an objective of
enforcement of Orissa Town Planning and Improvement Trust Act 1956 . Subsequently,by a
notification of Govt.in H.&U.D.Deptt.the Orissa Development Authority Act has
been re-enforced over the earlier areas supersiding theO.T.P. &
I.T.Act.1956,during the year 1997 and thus,Puri Konark Development Authority come in
to being on 1.4.1997.
Objective
The main objective of the Authority is to ensure for a planned
and systematic development of the areas under its jurisdiction,with
preparation of development plans,undertaking works pertaining to different
Town Planning Schemes and public amenities.It is also regulating development and
use of lands including private land.
Management
After constitution of P.K.D.A.,a well organised management pattern has been set-up as per the O.D.A. Act,having the Hon'bleMinister,Urban Development as
Chairman,Collector,Puri as Vice-Chairman alongwith one Town
and Regional Planning Member and Secretary of the Authority act as an Co-ordinator of different
sections.The detail staff position of the

Konark and the Interim Development of the areas in
between Puri & Konark have been prepared and published in the year-1998.

Building Centre
As a part of national net-work
under building centre movement,a building centre at Puri has been functioning
since 1994 under PKDA,Puri.The Building centre is presently wotking over 2.00acres
of Govt. land near Sidhamahavir Housing Scheme,Talabanbia,Puri.The
Collector,Puri and the Secretary,P.K.D.A. are working as
chairman and officein-charge,Building Centre,Purirespectively. The centre was initially started functioning with the
financial assistance of HUDCO and KFW grant of German Govt.Skill up-gradation and
training to the artisonson use of cost effective building technology and
employment generationthrough construction work etc.are the major
objective of the Building
Centre.The Authority has also completed some bulidings using the cost
effective
buliding materials which has been depicted in the table
above.Besides the construction work,about 100 nos of major have been imparted
training in the centre with the aim to defuse this technology in different areas.The
centre is now producing materials like solid concrete block,hollow
concrete block,R.C.C. plank,P.P.joist.In addition to
this,three types of roofing meterials are also produced like LPeon P.P.joist &
plank and Ferro channel.It is also manufacturing Ferro Cement door
and windows as substitute of the woden doors and windows.
