Being  separated from Puri Collectorate , this Puri District Treasury had formally started
working as a separate wing  w.e.f 1-4-68 .The responsibility for the proper management  and working
of this treasury rests entirely  with collector of the district and other officers kept in charge of the
treasury . The Director of Treasuries & inspection ,Orissa  as the head of the department in respect
of the treasury administration of the State runs its administration .

                   The District Treasury has 4 sub-treasuries under its jurisdiction and control.They are
namely ; Nimapara,Satyabadi,Pipli & Kakatpur.The daily accounts of receipts & payments of moneys
at these sub-treasuries are included in the accounts of District Treasury and sent to the Accountant
General,Orissa,Bhubaneswar in two phases viz . 1st list & 2nd  list of accounts .

                   105 Drawing & Disbursing   Officers draw their claims through bills and cheques of
different natures.A total number of 5546 pensioners draw their pensions through this District Treasury 
and its 4 sub-treasuries . 1,27,480 number of bills and 1,08,418 number of chalans were received in
this District Treasury in the financial year 2000--01 .

                 The   strong room attached to Puri District Treasury usually opens twice a week i.e. on
Tuesday and Friday . The Treasury Officers remains personally  present during   the transaction  hour
i.e. from opening to closing of the room.The strong  room is solely meant for storing stamps,valuables,
P.W. & P.L. Receipt & Payment  cheque books and duplicate keys of iron chests of different offices of
Puri District .

                   Puri District Treasury has a computer room of its own having  6 clients with other
accessories . Computerization was launched in this Treasury as the pilot District in the year 2000-01.
In the initial  phase , treasury accounts has been computerized since  15th November 2000 .
